A few months back I saw a post asking why AO3 is run by donations and not by advertisements.

This tumblr purge is why.

Advertisers are notoriously afraid of porn, nudity, women’s bodies, and gender nonconforming/trans bodies, and so a lot of sites that rely on ads do things like tumblr’s doing.

Ao3 doesn’t do that. Ao3 is an archive. It’s a place to post what you want, when you want, as long as you tag it.

Obviously I love Gianna Parasini. I haven’t spoken about her much on this blog yet, but hell, I did name it @parasini for a reason.

Noveria is such an interesting part of the world of Mass Effect, and probably my favorite area of ME1. It is corporate greed gone haywire, the Wild West of the corporate world. It’s just enough outside of Citadel space to get away with whatever they want, and the consequences are enormous. We hear about Binary Helix trying to cure the genophage and just running off with the money because they can’t figure it out. We see firsthand the secrets and NDAs that ultimately allow the Rachni to come back without any recourse. Saren is buying tons of weapons and nobody seems to care or think anything of it, because at least they’re making money.

It’s terrible, it’s unethical, and it’s damn interesting. And Gianna Parasini is one of the few trying to keep these people in check (sort of - she’s an internal affairs investigator, though, so she still is working for the same companies doing all this shit). She’s a fascinating character. With Parasini and the other flawed players of Noveria (Anoleis, Lorik Qui’in, Maeko Matsuo, Kaira Stirling), the corporate spy drama of this planet would make for an excellent side series. Or maybe just a really good multi-part fic…

And of course Peak 15 is interesting too, but Port Hanshan is where my heart’s at, in the shape of one Gianna Parasini.
